Wanting to Know:
How to Get Rid of Squirrels in the Attic
This website (written by a charter licensed pest control professional with more than 10 years of pest control experience) gives simple and straight to the point answers to questions about what works to Get Rid of Squirrels in the Attic.
Here We Go!
The Answer - Short term solution at best.
3 litters a year -
10-12 weeks dependent on the mother
Trapping mother squirrels ...
Kill the momma - smell the dead babies in the Attic or walls.
Trap and Release - It is best to not trap female Squirrels because you may then have dead young decaying in the Attic. Also, pest control inspectors that have monitored pest control operators live trapping and releasing Squirrels have reported that about 80 percent of the time the pest control inspectors have secretly watched the pest professionals live / cage trapping the that the trapped pests are released by the pest control professionals within about 2 blocks of the paying customer's house.
Where do you think the Squirrels return to?
The same house ....
where they were living before they were trapped.
In fact, if you live trap release you need to bring the trapped Squirrels at least 8 miles away from Your home or they will find their way back 50 percent of the time - 80 percent if released only 2 miles away from the Attic in which they were trapped.
Honestly, if the Squirrels return they will Get back into the Attic by chewing new holes or attacking the sealed areas.
This homeowner (picture below) paid "professionals" close to $1,000 dollars
and the little rascals were back in just one week
And consider this: one pest control owner said that by the time he "Gets through" with the average homeowner job his average total charge per home adds up to about
$1800 - $2600
and he is booked solid
from October to May with homeowners hiring him .
Don't even go there -
Mothballs are Toxic to humans and small animals
and it is against the law (a felony in some states) to use mothballs to get rid of animal pests in the Attic
Federal Trade Commission (FTC) pest control product inspectors have asked the FTC to permanently ban ultrasonic devices to Get Rid of pests like Squirrels in the Attic because ultrasonics don't work to repel pests. The FTC did not ban Ultrasonic repellers, but did send warning statements to ultrasonic device makers and retailers warning them not to claim their products would repel pests or face federal prosecution for such claims.
Depends on which Strobe Light bought.
Some low quality ones (disco / party strobes) will do the job - but their bulbs usually burn out in about 3 weeks time - so the Squirrels will leave for a while but will almost without exception come back when the low quality strobes' bulbs burn out in about 3 weeks - and guess what - these Strobe Lights usually have a 2 week return policy.
But, if you look for it - the sellers of these "cheaper" strobes will tell you that they burn out in about 3 week$. They often times inform buyers - Far down the page - about the 3 weeks burn-out time and recommend that the customers seal the areas so the squirrels don't come back after the strobes burn out - but in my field experiments the squirrels do come back and chew exploratory holes to see if the strobes are still flashing and if they are still flashing they do not chew very big holes and they do not come back in the attic. But - if the strobes are not flashing they chew their way back in and set back to family life in your attic.
Now, SOME HIGHER PRICED SQUIRREL STROBE LIGHTS HAVE A
9 to10 MONTH BULB LIFE - NOT TOO GOOD in My Opinion!
Their are some Squirrel Strobe Lights on the market that are more "expensive" than others that have an approximate bulb life of 7,000 hours (according to the originating factory's website) - do the math - running 24/7 that's only about 9.8 months!
Here is what we have found in field trails work the best - with bulbs designed to last 4-5 years with continuous use -
In one field application I have personally seen four strobes with the same bulbs that were flashing 24/7 for FOUR YEARS AND ELEVEN MONTHS STRAIGHT! at the time of observation - and the bulbs were flashing perfectly!
We recommend a brand like Stunbright™
made by Good Abode Corporation - they are high quality - good bulb life - 4 - 5 years on average. Good Abode Corporation's Stunbright™ Squirrel strobe lights are now being used and sold by the 5th largest pest control company in the US which has won national awards for its environmentally friendly pest control practices. So, this website: How to Get Rid of Squirrels in the Attic .com is not alone in its recommendation of Stunbright™ Squirrel control strobe lights - for the long term.

I would not waste my money - Squirrels are smart and are quick to figure out that there is not a fox or wolf living in the Attic too.
Ever wonder where all the fox urine comes from - are there portable toilets in the forest for the foxes to use?
The most abundant source of marketable fox urine comes from fur farms - foxes in small cages with trays underneath to collect the valuable urine.
Unless it is so loud that ...
Well - you get the idea.
